Tuesday morning (04/28/2015)

Today we visited the village on foot without the Portuguese students, who were more tired than us (wimps! ;). We started from the hotel (Convento De Alter), passed through the garden next to the Castle, and saw the old town of Alter Do Chao. We learnt that in the North, the facades of the houses are white with yellow borders, and in the South the facades are white with blue borders.

After that we went to Palácio do Álamo. We were photographed everywhere like stars!
We learnt how the inhabitants worked, lived and stored their food. It is a house of memory with old furniture. The guide insisted a lot on a white tiles with blue drawings, called "azuléjos".

Good to know: the cork is a typical portuguese product. But we don't know if they like café liégeois!

We also visited the castle and enjoyed the view from the rampart.

  1. It looks like a beautiful place to pay a visit. I hope you had a lovely time exploring the beauty of the place on foot while coming in close communication with the sights and people.
